Year 3 A

All ready for our Halloween disco.

Today we used the green screen and took part in a Celtic photo shoot.

All ready for battle!

Today we took part in a bike/scooter safety session with the road safety officer.

We made our own looms and had a go at weaving. It was not as easy as we thought it would be.

We followed a set of instructions and made our own dye using vegetables. We then used it to create our own war paint for our Celtic warriors.

During our music session today we used the tuned percussion instruments.

We have been applying our understanding of symmetry to help us create our own Celtic brooches. Don’t they look fantastic!

It has been another busy week in 3A. We have continued to work with 3-digit numbers as part of our numeracy sessions. Also we have used our story maps to help us write the beginning of our own stories. During our science activities we have been looking at the different food groups and eating habits of our group clients. We have also started to design and create our own Celtic brooches ready for our fashion show later this term.

During our numeracy sessions this week we have been looking at place value in three digit numbers. We have also been working together to plan our own story beginnings based on Nail Soup. As part of our science we have been looking at healthy eating and making sure we have our five a day. We enjoyed using the instruments during our session with Mr Thomas.

Over the past week we we have continued to investigate lines of symmetry and have begun to create our own symmetrical patterns. We have also used our class story map to help us retell our story Nail Soup. As part of our science sessions we sorted animals by the food they eat and learned three new words – carnivore, herbivore and omnivore. We had our first music session with Mr Thomas.

We have had a lovely first week back in school. We have been busy learning our new story ‘Nail Soup’ and have started looking at line symmetry as part of our maths sessions. Our topic for this term is The Celts. We worked together in our groups to create a mind map of the things that we want to find out over the next term.
