Outdoor Learning & Well-Being

Fresh Air Friday

Fresh Air Friday promotes the well-being of a child and helps children build skills for life. The benefits include increased physical and mental health, appreciation and understanding of the natural world as well as enhanced personal and social communication. Fresh Air Friday is linked to the four purposes of the curriculum and children link them well to the seagull characters. The children have the opportunity to link their outdoor learning to Welsh and Rights of the Child. The children are enthusiastic about exploring the local area and outdoors and we can see the positive impact of this.

Well-Being Wednesday

KS2 offer a ‘Well-being Wednesday’ programme of activities, which encourages our pupils to interact with other children of different ages (Years 3-6) to complete a practical activity. Every activity is linked to an AoLE and children are encouraged to develop their Integral Skills.

Deputy Head, Kyle Winter explained, “The activities have been carefully chosen by our staff to promote personal wellbeing as well as encouraging pupils to engage with nature, collaborate with others and embrace the variety of opportunities they are being offered. Our Wednesday afternoons have become a real talking point, with the children keen to explain what they have done or show what they have made.”
