Welcome to class 5/6!

Croeso i dosbarth pump/chwech!

Our current concept: Humanity

The Big Question: Should we be supporting the World Cup in Qatar?

Through this inquiry, the children will discuss issues such Qatar’s rather questionable human rights record to the proposed switch from the promised summer tournament to one in winter and the cost of hosting.

The children have suggested brilliant activities and learning opportunities for us throughout this inquiry. They include:

  • Building a landmark and a stadium using Minecraft
  • Dishes from around the world
  • Researching landmarks around the world
  • History of the World Cup
  • Country flags and what they represent
  • Cost of staging a World Cup

Reading – Darllen

Please encourage your child to develop good reading habits by reading regularly at home. Pupils should read a variety of texts including fiction and non-fiction, and joining the local library will offer a wider range of books.

Physical Education – Addysg Gorfforol

Our P.E day is Thursday

PE kit should be worn to school (tracksuit bottoms/shorts/leggings, t-shirt/hoodie and trainers).

Earrings are not permitted to be worn for PE sessions and must be removed by the pupil or before coming to school.

Long hair should be tied back and all hair accessories removed.

We also participate in the Daily Mile where we encourage every child to run approximately 1 mile, come rain or shine!

Snacks – Byrbrydau

A variety of snacks are offered before morning break at the cost of 30p a day.

Dojo Points – Pwyntiau Dojo

We are currently using the Class Dojo reward system to encourage positive behaviour in school. Children can earn Dojo points by demonstrating positive behaviour such as helping others, working hard, being kind to others and making excellent progress during lessons.

Every Monday afternoon, the children have the opportunity to visit the Dojo Shack and spend their Dojo points if they wish. The children also have the option to save their points for bigger prizes.
